Wang Yi Meets with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh of Viet Nam

On April 18, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh of Viet Nam.

Wang Yi expressed that China-Viet Nam relations have achieved new and positive progress since the beginning of this year. After General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Nguyen Phu Trong's successful visit to China at the beginning of this year, leaders of the two parties and both countries will also conduct a series of important high-level exchanges within this year, and the two Foreign Ministries should intensify coordination and make solid preparation to ensure a complete success. Wang Yi said that both sides should speed up the integration of development strategies such as the "Belt and Road" and the "Two Corridors and One Ring", further consolidate the social foundation of China-Viet Nam friendship, properly handle differences, boost maritime cooperation, maintain the sound development momentum of China-View Nam relations, and push bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields for more outcomes.

Agreeing with Wang Yi's assessment on bilateral relations, Pham Binh Minh thanked China for supporting Viet Nam to host this year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders' Meeting, and expressed that Viet Nam is willing to, together with China, ensure bilateral high-level exchanges within this year a complete success, deepen practical cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, and investment, and safeguard the peace and stability in the South China Sea.
