Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying's Remarks on US Senate's approval of resolution on East and South China Seas issues

Q: The US Senate approved a non-binding resolution on July 29 which, "reaffirming the strong support of the United States for the peaceful resolution of territorial, sovereignty, and jurisdictional disputes in the Asia-Pacific maritime domains ", pressured China on East and South China Seas issues. What is China's comment?

A: The resolution submitted by a small number of US congressmen accused China groundlessly in disregard of historical facts. It is sending a wrong signal. China strongly opposes the practice and has lodged solemn representations with the US side. We urge the relevant US lawmakers to respect the facts and correct their mistakes so as to avoid further complicating the issue and the situation in the region.
